What We Do As A Church
We believe that God directs his followers to gather together in churches as a means of growing closer to him and accomplishing his purposes for the world. Here's what we do to make our mission and vision a reality:
Thoughtful Study of the Bible
We are convinced that God reveals Himself, His values and His purposes through the means of the Bible. Therefore, we seek to understand and implement what we learn through careful study of the scriptures. At least some portion of every meeting is dedicated to learning what the Bible teaches.
Worship with Heart and Mind
When we come together as a church, our goal is to engage in worship of our Creator using our intellect, emotions and actions. We view everything we do in our times together: singing, praying, sharing testimonies, giving an offering, and listening to preaching, as opportunities to bring honor to God.
Meaningful Relationships
Jesus taught that his followers would be recognized by the fact that they loved one another. (John 13:35) We believe this requires that we get to know one another, actively care for each other, and seek to help everyone grow in faith and spiritual maturity.
Faith in Action
The New Testament book of James tells us "faith without works is dead." While we believe that we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8), we also believe that the evidence of faith is responding to God with actions in obedience to His commands. The church therefore seeks to provide specific opportunities for members to express their faith through acts of service.
Purposeful Prayer
A hallmark of our times together as a congregation is to pray for God's will to be done in our lives and to pray for our families, friends and the world around us. We take seriously the scripture that tells us, "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." (James 5:15)
Sharing the Good News
The Apostle Paul describes the Gospel as "...the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes..." (Romans 1:16). As people who have discovered meaning and purpose in our relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we desire to share this life-giving message with the whole world.
